We instil good behaviour and attitudes towards others as the basis for excellence at every stage of school life.
Our School Aims To
Turing House is committed to the highest possible academic standards, whilst delivering a broad and balanced curriculum. It values and supports the achievements and aspirations of every student, whatever their ability and potential.
As parents we know how important it is for our children to thrive in all kinds of ways beyond academic achievement. Turing House focuses on more than just exam results, encouraging self-esteem and respect for others, independence and responsibility, creative and critical thinking, innovation, problem-solving and an interest in the wider world.
Our broad curriculum caters for all interests and future career paths. We are developing a particular focus on STEM (Science, Technology Engineering & Maths) and Music. All of our students, including those whose main interests lie in other areas of the curriculum, can benefit from enrichment activities and the generic “life” skills associated with these subjects.
With an intake of up to 150 students a year our school is smaller than many other secondary schools.
Many local parents are very engaged with their children's primary school, both educationally and socially. We know that schools can provide valuable social networks for families in our community, so we encourage continuation of that close parental involvement at secondary level.
We believe that everyone in our school should behave in a responsible manner: with each other; with the school; and with the wider community. We model this to students in the way the school is run, for example by being a responsible employer and consumer and by supporting our local and global communities. Students have many opportunities to volunteer, both within and outside of school. Our Student Council provides opportunities for leadership and the representation of student voice.
When we move to our permanent home we would like our school to remain open in the evening and during school holidays as a community hub, offering activities for people of all ages and interests.
